Personal Training

As a member of the Park Cities YMCA, you have the benefit of working with a friendly, knowledgeable and certified Personal Trainer. They will design a personal workout regimen for you to help you accomplish your fitness and wellness goals.  Tandem trainings (two members training at same time) are also offered.  All sessions are one hour.

Fees: Individual trainings: $60/one session, $345/six sessions, $660/twelve sessions
         
          Tandem trainings: $80/one session, $465/six sessions, $900/twelve sessions  
 

Meet our Trainers:

    Scott has been with the YMCA for over 17 years, working in Fitness, Aquatics, Active Older Adults, Guides, Sports, and after school programs.  He also worked with 16-20 year old homeless boys at the YMCA Casa Shelter.  Scott earned a B.S. in Kinesiology and Corporate Exercise Management and a minor in Business & Gerontology from the University of Wisconsin.  He holds a YMCA Personal Training Trainer certification, and has worked with clients who have special needs including stroke and cancer survivors.  Scott is married with three children, and enjoys hunting and being outdoors.




Mayo is a Park Cities native who grew up playing Y sports and wrestling in Hodges Hall.  He graduated from SMU with degrees in English and History, has written two novels, and spent most of the last decade working in Rome for the United Nations.  Mayo joined the Y staff in 2007, and holds a Personal Trainer certification from the Cooper Institute. A fitness enthusiast all his life, he will be offering a “Power, Strength & Speed” camp for youngsters over the summer.  Mayo is married and enjoys painting portraits in oil and studying Eastern Philosophy.
 

Anna has worked with the YMCA for over 10 years, and holds certifications as an AFAA Personal Trainer and a YMCA Strength Trainer Specialist. She is experienced with the TRX Suspension Trainer (a one-on-one core/functional training device), and focuses on educating herself and her clients on basic biomechanics and exercise physiology.  Along with training, Anna teaches a variety of group exercise classes, including kick-boxing, barbell, and Active Older Adults.  Anna is a dog lover who enjoys riding her bike and working on crafts.
 

After a 20 year career in corporate aviation, Bob changed to a career in fitness.  As a certified YMCA Strength Training Instructor and AFAA Group Exercise Instructor, he has been training and teaching at the Park Cities Y for 19 years.  Besides training, Bob teaches a variety of classes, including Body Pump and Zumba.  Bob is married and has a passion for adventure travel, his family, and helping others reach their personal fitness goals.

 

Candace started teaching water exercise classes at the Park Cities Y 15 years ago.  Her Personal Training certification is through AFAA, and she also teaches group exercise classes, including Body Pump.  In the past, she has participated in race walking competitions.  Candace is married with four grown children, and has recently returned to college to obtain a degree in Kinesiology.  In her free time, she enjoys photography and being with her seven grandchildren.

 


Daniela has been with the Park Cities Y since 2007, and holds a Personal Training certification from the Cooper Institute.  She grew up in Montevideo, Uruguay, and attended Centenary College in Louisiana, where she played soccer and tennis on a full scholarship while earning a B.S. in Exercise Science.  She was a member of the 1998 Uruguay Women’s Outdoor Soccer team, and in 2009, made the Women’s Indoor Soccer team as its oldest member!  Daniela is married with a son, and is expecting a baby girl this summer.  She loves spending time with her family, playing soccer, and traveling.


 

Julie is a Park Cities native who has been with the Y for 18 years.  She is a graduate of TCU with a B.S. in Physical Education.  Julie is a certified YMCA Fitness Specialist and Strength Training Director.  She is also ACE certified in Group Exercise, and serves as our Group Exercise Coordinator.  Her career in fitness includes being an All American gymnast and a competitive body builder.  Julie is married and has a 13 year old son.
